Our Mission is to facilitate
partnerships, equipping parents and educators to be equal partners
in the success of each child.
The Parent & Educator Partnership (PEP) is an Illinois Statewide Technical
Assistance Center (ISTAC) of the Illinois State
Board of Education (ISBE). The PEP project advances the ISBE's
priority to improve the delivery of training, technical assistance,
and coaching for parents of school age children and educators. PEP
services include: providing a Call-in Center for parents of
students with disabilities to assist with understanding their role
and rights described in the Individuals with Disabilities Education
Act (IDEA); providing Individualized Education Program
(IEP) Frequently Asked Questions page
and other web-based resources; developing and supporting
Parent Leadership in collaboration with the local
school district; and assisting the local school district with
implementing and sustaining authentic partnerships
practices with families and the community that impact
student learning.
Partnership building is a requirement of Title 1 funding and described in Section 1118 of the Elementary and
Secondary Education Act (formerly, No Child Left Behind).
Partnership building also assists the school district with
improving State Performance Plan Indicator 8, "Percent of
parents with a child receiving special education service who report
that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving
services and results for children with disabilities."
