Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities
The Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD) is
dedicated to improving the lives of people with developmental
disabilities through advocacy, systemic change and capacity
building.
ICDD is responsible for investing in new programs to improve the
delivery of services and supports to individuals with developmental
disabilities and their families in Illinois. The Council focuses on
education, employment, transportation, community living, health
care and other areas so that people with developmental disabilities
can enjoy their lives to the fullest extent possible. Just as
importantly, ICDD works to build the capabilities of individuals,
families and communities, enabling each to become more
self-sufficient through the Developmental Disabilities Assistance
and Bill of Rights Act (the DD Act).
To a large extent, ICDD programs are developed in direct
response to the concerns and ideas voiced by consumers, families,
service providers, policy-makers and other professionals.
