Creating Positive Behavioral Intervention Plans and Supports
It is the mission of the Center for Effective Collaboration and
Practice to support and promote a reoriented national preparedness
to foster the development and the adjustment of children with or at
risk of developing serious emotional disturbance. To achieve that
goal, the Center is dedicated to a policy of collaboration at
Federal, state, and local levels that contributes to and
facilitates the production, exchange, and use of knowledge about
effective practices. This is the third of three guides that address
the 1997 Amendments to IDEA as they relate to the issue of
functional assessment and positive behavioral intervention plans
and supports. This third monograph discusses how to use the
information gathered during the FBA to develop and implement
positive behavioral intervention plans that address both the short-
and long-term needs of the student.
